Lessons from an Oyster

"There once was an oyster
Whose story I tell,
Who found that some sand
Had got into his shell.

It was only a grain,
But it gave him great pain.
For oysters have feelings
Although they're so plain.

Now, did he berate
The harsh workings of fate
That had brought him
To such a deplorable state?

Did he curse at the government,
Cry for election,
And claim that the sea should
Have given him protection?

"NO!" he said to himself
As he lay on a shell,
Since I cannot remove it,
I shall try to improve it.

Now the years have rolled around,
As the years always do,
And he came to his ultimate
Destiny stew.

And the small grain of sand
That had bothered him so
Was a beautiful pearl
All richly aglow.

Now the tale has a moral,
For isn't it grand
What an oyster can do
With a morsel of sand?

What couldn't we do
If we'd only begin
With some of the things
That get under our skin?"

God's Letter to a Woman

When I created the heavens and the earth, I spoke them
into being.
When I created man, I formed him and breathed life
into his nostrils.
But you, woman, I fashioned after I breathed the
breath of life into man, because your nostrils are too
delicate.
I allowed a deep sleep to come over him
so I could patiently and perfectly fashion you.
Man was put to sleep so that he could not interfere
with the creativity.
From one bone, I fashioned you.
I chose the bone that protects man's life.
I chose the rib, which protects his heart and lungs
and supports him,
as you are meant to do.
Around this one bone, I shaped you....... I modeled
you.
I created you perfectly and beautifully.
Your characteristics are as the rib, strong yet
delicate and fragile.
You provide protection for the most delicate organ in
man, his heart.
His heart is the center of his being; his lungs hold
the breath of life.
The ribcage will allow itself to be broken before it
will allow damage to the heart. Support man as the rib
cage supports the body.
You were not taken from his feet, to be under him,
nor were you taken from his head, to be above him.
You were taken from his side, to stand beside him and
be held close to his side.
You are my perfect angel.....You are my beautiful
little girl.
You have grown to be a splendid woman of excellence,
and my eyes fill when I see the virtues in your
heart.
Your eyes...don't change them.
Your lips, how lovely when they part in prayer.
Your nose, so perfect in form.
Your hands so gentle to touch. I've caressed your
face in your deepest sleep.
I've held your heart close to mine.
Of all that lives and breathes, you are most like me.
Adam walked with me in the cool of the day, yet he
was lonely.
He could not See me or touch me. He could only feel
me.
So everything I wanted Adam to share and experience
with me, I fashioned in you; my Holiness, my Strength,
my Purity, my Love, my Protection and Support.
You are special because you are an extension of me.
Man represents my image, woman my emotions.
Together, you represent the totality of God.
So man......treat woman well.
Love her, respect her, for she is fragile. In hurting
her, you hurt me.
What you do to her, you do to me.
In crushing her, you only damage your own heart;
the heart of your Father, and the heart of her
Father.
Woman, support man. In humility, show him the power
of emotion
I have given you.
In gentle quietness, show your strength.
In love, show him that you are the rib that protects
his inner self.
Did you not know that WOMAN is special in God's eyes?

A Poem for us

I shave my legs,
I sit down to pee,
and I justify
any shopping spree.

don't go to a barber,
but to a beauty salon,
I can get a massage,
without a hard-on.

I can balance the checkbook,
I can pump my own gas,
can talk to my friends,
about the size of my ass.

My beauty 's a masterpiece,
and yes, it takes long
at least I can admit,
to others when I'm wrong.

I don't drive in circles,
at any cost,

and I don't have a problem
admitting I' m lost.

I never forget
an important date,

you just gotta deal with it,
I'm usually late.

I don't watch movies
with lots of gore,

don't need instant replay
to remember the scene.

I won't lose my hair,
I don't get jock itch,
and just cause I am assertive
don't call me bitch!

don't say it to your friends,
Oh yeah,I can get her.
In you dreams ,my dear,
I can do better!

Flowers are okay,
But jewelry's best,
look at me, you idiot!!
not at my chest!!

I don't have a problem
with expressing my feelings,

I know when you 're lying,
you look at the ceiling.

Don't call me a Gurl,
A Babe or A Chick,
I AM A WOMAN....
GET IT, YOU DICK!!!!!

Just a little poem that Nora let us read....funny....

When i say i'm a Christian

When I say, "I am a Christian,"
I'm not shouting "I am saved."
I'm whispering "I was lost";
That is why I chose this way.

When I say, "I am a Christian,"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble,
And need someone to be my guide.

When I say, "I am a Christian,"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak,
And pray for strength to carry on.

When I say, "I am a Christian,"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed,
And cannot ever pay the debt.

When I say, "I am a Christian,"
I'm not claiming to be perfect.
My flaws are too visible,
But God believes I'm worth it.

When I say, "I am a Christian,"
I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches,
Which is why I speak His name.

When I say, "I am a Christian,"
I do not wish to judge.
I have no authority;
I only know I'm loved.

Simple Friends and Real Friends

A simple friend, when visiting, acts like a guest.
A real friend opens your refrigerator and helps himself.

A simple friend has never seen you cry.
A real friend has shoulders soggy from your tears.

A simple friend doesn't know your parents' first names.
A real friend has their phone numbers in his address book.

A simple friend brings a bottle of wine to your party.
A real friend comes early to help you cook and stays late to help you clean.

A simple friend hates it when you call after he has gone to bed.
A real friend asks you why you took so long to call.

A simple friend seeks to talk with you about your problems.
A real friend seeks to help you with your problems.

A simple friend wonders about your romantic history.
A real friend could blackmail you with it.

A simple friend thinks the friendship is over when you have an argument.
A real friend calls you after you had a fight.

A simple friend expects you to always be there for them.
A real friend expects to always be there for you!
