I laughed

What did i do during the excitedly awaited earth hour? I laughed.

Long, hard and loud.

I thought about the stack of biodegrade-able shopping bags we re-use in my house, and thought of the recyclable extra bags i keep in my handbag.

I thought of my feeble efforts to carpool.

My household taps which were changed because the old ones were wasting water.

And then i thought of how long i spend on my phone and the computer or watching tv.

How i like to leave my fan on in my room so that it keeps cool.

The fact is that, whatever we try, no matter how hard we try, we can't save something if it's intended direction is heading to destruction. And second thing, all man is sinful, and no matter how hard we try, there'll never come a day where we act so responsibly we successfully save earth. We'll always be failures when it comes to things like responsibility and taking care of things, as evidenced by history. That given, in Christ we're given new life and we're given hope. We're brought into a life of joyful slavery to Christ as Lord and in that, we're given His Spirit which enables us to know God, do His work and be more like Christ. And considering that, we can each do our little bit everyday, in using all that we've been graced with wisely and responsibly. We will fail (eventually) but that's okay, because our hope is in Christ, who has a place for us in his Kingdom, where all of earth's sufferings will not exist and whatever we're tormented with on earth will cease to give us pain. I hope in Christ, not earth.

p.s I laughed in the dark. I switched off my lights. Did you? =)

It's nice when the blue and yellow pens mix together and make green. Makes it all in all a four color drawing.

Continuing my spiel on earth hour

I wrote about that abit earlier. I had a sort of an opinion then, but wasn't really sure or convinced yet. I read why they do it is to vote for earth, "Switching off your lights is a vote for Earth, or leaving them on is a vote for global warming."

For me, i'm voting for neither of them. I'm casting my vote for Heaven. How about you?

CERC camp

Remember that little preview of some digital drawings i did?
Well, i can finally show you the end result, cos the forms are out now for CERC camp 2009!

It's been very interesting, doing the ad work and graphics. I like churning out creative matter.

But the manual printing is a horror. Seriously.
Expenses just flow out like water...
Got this new thing stuck to the side of my printer though, a continuous ink supply system (CISS). Pretty good and cheap, though gave me a real headache at first. I blame the salesman for that. But well. that thing saves me so much in printing costs so i've got to stick with it. After a couple of google-clicks, i finally figured out what the heck was going wrong and now it's working fine =)

Have been trying out many different styles of drawing cos i thought i was getting comfortable with my usual style. Varying the very detailed to the simple lines to scribbly ones, to different color pens (cos i tend to use only black). Practice, practice, practice. The new sketchbook is serving me well and will probably be filled in no time.

Earth hour

I'm guessing i'll be the only one, but i think earth hour sounds a little silly.
Fact is, everything on earth will wilt and fade away, no matter how hard you try to save it.

What do you think?

I'm just a little occupied now.

I finished up my ringbound sketchbook, so this was a doodle to start off the new one. I hate starting on the first page, there's too much pressure!

Anyway, i documented the whole process from sketch to end. For those of you who'd like a glimpse into my uncomplicated mind and see how it works. Nothing much to it, see?

I had to try my new Pigma Brush pens. I had been looking everywhere for them. I like how they feel drawing these meows.

Practice makes one of my cats almost Sylar-worthy. I love them little kitties so much! Very expressive little things. Innocent and diabolical creatures.

I miss Tink... Hope he's in a good family, where he gets to nibble all he likes on his family's patient fingers.

Lost (but now am found =P)

I'm so annoyed. The crash the computer suffered around 2004/2005, stole all my school photos and whatever else before that. I've been looking for this one particular photo, and it's nowhere to be found! Grrrr.... any of you guys have a copy of that photo of the four girls (aiyee, me, nora and bils) standing outside the pj civic center?

edit: After searching frantically all over for my backup files (thank goodness i had the right mind to back up SOME stuff), i have found some of them AND the one i was looking for!

I was dragged to the ICC Concert today. I remember when I used to be an Interactor (do you ever stop being one?) back in school. So i was trying to dig up photos of me n my girlfriends at the ICC concert back in our day (jeez, it wasn't THAAAT long ago haha) and whatever other photos of us i could find! I miss my school days....

The ICC Concert in 2004, at the PJCC. Did you know, my first ever performance was at the PJCC too? That's when i graduated kindergarten and danced for the show, even more yonks ago.

Some Leo event i think. I can't remember what it was for. But i remember good dancing. That was it. Oh, ah and i made my dress. Okay, not the whole thing but most of it.
Some outing in Pyramid i think. All girls were very into Roxy then, yeah... We all had Roxy something or another.

Sigh, those were the days.

I don't think i look much different! What do you guys think?

Girl in purple

I'm still not so good at getting the features on guys faces. This sketch happened cos i was checking whether i could still get almost accurate female faces. If anyone recognises her, great! I'm pretty satisfied with it even if nobody does =)

Practice, practice, practice

One of the artists for the Heroes graphic novels says that he observes hundreds of the character's photos and practices about that amount of times to get a good representation.

That tells me i've got at least 95 more times to go before i get better *grin*.

bye bye atm card

It was a rainy day and i was rushing because i was late for an appointment, as usual. I was supposed to be painting a mural with some friends an hour ago, but my ride had just arrived and i needed cash and food, the cash more than food. Well, i needed the cash to get food.

The bank is surprisingly empty, i thought, which is rare. So i walked briskly to a machine that was free and slid my card in. It's an art, you know, typing in your pincode really fast while covering it with your other hand. You can't really see what you're typing, and it takes practice to get the right combination of finger movements. Sometimes i make mistakes, and immediately look around to see if anyone saw that. Silly me.

Anyway, the machine told me i'm to expect my card to pop back out any minute. I waited expectantly, eager to grab it and go quickly. They can't start without me, because i'm directing the mural project.

All i heard was a crunching sound. And another, and another and finally another. I peeked into the slit and nothing. I punched some buttons and still nothing.

I didn't realize it then, but i had met the evil atm machine. The one that swallows your cards, doesn't give you your money and chews up receipts for breakfast. It's cool metallic look can be deceiving, but inside, it's hiding a hungry, raving, starving MONSTER, just waiting to get a hold of your card, relishing in its delicious and fresh crunchiness.

Damn it, now i have to get a new one.

He's my favorite character! I know he's the antagonist in the show, but what can i say? Can't help who i like, right?

Maybe it's the stubble. I have to say that stubble makes good looking guys look even good-er, but that's just me (and mel).

I think i got the evil look, but i dunno...it's not EVIL enough yet! I'll definitely keep practicing to get that 'tick tock tick tock' look down pat.

I was itching to try out my new waterproof ink pens that i bought to complement my watercolors. And, i'm hooked on Heroes so hey, why not take advantage of the two and out came Doyle, the puppet master.

I received this from one of my Sunday School kids. I never thought i'd love teaching Sunday School, seriously! It's so rewarding, especially when they can remember what you taught them =) Also because hehe you get to return them to their parents after class. Nah, just kidding!

Judging from how well the kids remember what you tell them, it's a lot of work, making sure you don't say silly or misunderstandable things in front of them. They're like sponges, just soaking everything you say or do and when you squeeze it, it all comes out looking the same. And, they also look up to you outside of Sunday School, so you got to make sure your actions in and out of class tally up with what you're teaching! I figure that marriage and children definitely are given to help you be more godly (or fake and hypo la depending on which way you go).
